Personal Brief: Heidi began judo in 1986 at the age of 11. She won her first junior national title in 1990. She has won 16 nationals during her career, including 4 Collegiate National Championships and 2 Senior National titles. She has represented the US at the World University Games, the Pan American Championships and the World Championships. Heidi has attained the rank of Yodan or 4th degree black belt. Heidi also holds a 3rd degree brown belt in Kodenkan Jujitsu. Heidi has been coaching judo since 1996 when she reintroduced judo to the Reed College physical education program. Heidi and her husband Scott have been the head instructors of Denver Judo since 2000.
Heidi is also a USA Judo Continental certified coach and has served as the team leader for the US teams to the 2001 and 2002 International Blind Sports Association World Championships. Heidi enjoys music and movies and playing with her son Jordan.
