Heidi Wins the US Open!!

Hello!
My name is Heidi Moore and I am an elite judo athlete training
for the 2007 World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and
the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. I have been practicing
judo for over twenty years and am currently US National Champion,
ranked #1 in the US, and I recently won my first Pan American
Championship medal, a bronze. I maintain a busy competition
and training schedule, including running my own dojo, or school
in addition to being employed full-time, a wife, and the mother
of a 3 year old.
Judo is a martial art that started in Japan in the 1880s. Unlike
karate or tae kwon do, judo does not involve punching or kicking.
Instead, it is more like wrestling, involving attempting to
throw your opponent to the mat and the grapple with him in order
to apply a pin, or to submit him using a choke or armlock. For
a more complete discussion of judo, please Click Here. Judo
became and Olympic sport for men in 1964, and in 1992 for women.
Judo is not a “big ticket” sport in the United States and therefore
there is very little funding available for athletes to train
and compete. This website is set up to help me raise funds to
support the travel and training I need to be successful at the
World Championships this September and make the 2008 Olympic
Team.
